We’ve been told that the Nexus Marlin from HTC will be the “bigger fish“. An image of a mysterious Nexus phone has been rendered recently and we know that it might come with the Angelfish and Swordfish Android Wear smartwatches. Since there’s not much information or leaks about the next Nexus line, Tech Droider took it upon themselves to make an image of the upcoming smartphone.

The image above is only a render but it’s also based on a previously leaked image. This could just be a prototype and not the final design but at least we can see the possible features and specs like the 5.5-inch QHD screen similar to the Moto Z, front stereo speakers, back fingerprint sensor, aluminum unibody, 4GB RAM, 3450mAh battery, and the same 12.3MP dual camera system found in the Nexus 6P.

HTC Nexus Marlin 1

Since this is an HTC-manufactured Android smartphone, we’re expecting the handset will help pull up the numbers of the Taiwanese tech giant. We still have no idea how the company is doing but it’s still in the business launching new Desires, giving discounts, updating the HTC Sense, and even announcing prematurely its plans to bring the new Android 7.0 Nougat to the HTC 10, One M9, and One A9.

If you may remember, HTC’s CEO apologized for the poor sales but assured that the M10 is performing better. The HTC 10 actually came as a surprise, performing well in comparison tests and surviving bend tests although we can’t consider it the best in its class.

We’re hopeful that this HTC Nexus phone will once again bring the company to the top. If not the top rankings maybe at least improve the numbers.

  1. Son, I might be going crazy but it looks too me that this render is a little wide. As opposed to the 6p which was a tall and skinny phone, this one looks fat. Idk but for me I wouldn’t want a fat phone in my hands and i’m really betting on this phone to be good cause I really want a nexus.

      • Thank god I’m not the only one who noticed. Could it be possible that a .2 inch difference as opposed from the 6p make this upcoming nexus a little bit “fatter”?

      • Just get a 6P. It’ll be Daydream compatible and it’s got plenty of development time in. Unless there really will be a Google phone this year. Then whatever that is and however it looks it will be mine.

    • I think it’s a combination of the weird lighting that causes the odd reflections on the sides, the dark background that kind of blends in the the phone’s bezels, and the fact that the Nexus 6p has bigger bezels.

  2. Looks like every other phone that’s come out in the past 5 years. Nexus is going the way of the phone manufacturers, saturating us with all these damn phones that are barely different from one another.
