T-Mobile’s myTouch 4G Slide gets official: HSPA+ and a boosted camera

T-Mobile USA has given the official nod to the myTouch 4G Slide, the carrier's latest QWERTY smartphone. Built by HTC, the myTouch 4G Slide packs a 3.7-inch WVGA touchscreen and the same 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon processor as inside the HTC Sensation and HTC EVO 3D, as well as that physical keyboard and an upgraded camera. The 8-megapixel camera - which has autofocus and a dual-LED flash - also gets a new f/2.2 wide aperture lens and a backlit sensor, both intended to improve low-light performance. HTC has also fettled its software, promising zero shutter lag as well as adding in-camera HDR support, SweepShot for easy panoramic photography, and BurstShot for firing off multiple frames in short order, and then allowing you to pick the best later on. A front facing camera gives support for video calls, meanwhile, and the phone runs Android Gingerbread with HTC Sense 3.0. Other specs haven't been announced, but we're guessing WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS and all the usual sensors will be included when the T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide arrives in July 2011. It'll be priced at $199.99 with a new, two-year agreement, and available in black or khaki. [youtube 97REawPREH4]

Google Celebrates Pride in NYC with Gay Android Shirts

Prepare yourselves for the cutest most awesome Android t-shirt you've ever seen in your life. Two Androids holding hands, one of them waving a rainbow flag. This is the newest uniform of the "Gayglers", a group of Googlers, aka employees and associates of google that've been supporting GLBT rights for quite a few years now. This particular photograph was taken just this past weekend at New York City Pride, Gay Pride that is, at one of the many events across the United States in essentially every big city (including right here in my home city of Minneapolis), rainbows and singing and dancing galore - and in this case, Androids galore as well!

Gingerbread RUU Packed for Rooted HTC Droid Incredible 2

If there's one thing an Android user loves, it's an update. Every update to an app, firmware, hardware, even updating your wallpaper is something like an addiction when you really get into it. Therefor when a news bit like Droid Incredible 2 gets full official Gingerbread build comes along, we flip out. That day is now - though it's a little less than official, if you know what I mean. What we've got going here is a Gingerbread RUU being leaked by MobileUnderground member Football. Justin Case of Android Police and xgunther got together and repacked that RUU and made it root-friendly.

Hungry Sharks passes 6 Million downloads on Android, Releases Hungry Sharks 3

In case you've never played Hungry Sharks 1 or 2 I'd highly recommend you give it a try, just don't let your kids play it. It's a exciting and fast paced game where you can control a shark and basically eat everything in your path. It may not sound all that fun but it gets pretty hard as time goes on and you start to get hungry and eventually die if you don't eat enough. With fish, birds, jellyfish, and humans all in the water there is plenty to eat but it does run out. It is actually really amusing and a great way to pass the time, I've played both plenty.

Asurion Insurance out of Droid X, Sending Droid X2 for Replacements

Asurion is the handset protection and insurance offered by most smartphone providers like Verizon and T-Mobile, when your phone gets lost or broke they replace it and you only pay a deductible (if you have insurance of course). For high priced smartphones the deductible is around $130 to get your lovely android phone replaced. It looks like they are replacing users of the Droid X with the new and faster Droid X2, that is a nice upgrade if I don't say so myself.

Samsung Slider for Verizon Pops Up in Pics

Looks like another Samsung phone has popped up. This one is a slider, headed for Verizon that looks extremely similar to the Galaxy S variant, the Epic 4G. We don't know much about the phone, other than its code the SCH-i405. The SCH-i400 is the Samsung Continuum, another Galaxy S variant that went to Verizon, so this may end up being simply the Epic for Big Red, but we'll have to wait and see

HBO TrueBlood Live Wallpaper for Android

Summertime is upon us and what does that mean aside from all manufacturers launching new phones? Great shows from HBO and Showtime are starting back up all summer long. I know that doesn't really have anything to do with Android but the highly popular HBO original series TrueBlood just started the new season last night and kicked off with a bang. All sorts of crazy things going on with shape-shifters, fairies, dead vampires, and even panthers. For those that don't watch the show I highly recommend it.
