Amazon’s Alexa is quickly inching its way to becoming a popular voice assistant. The technology is being integrated into several devices since its launch almost two years ago. Alexa first worked on the Echo, poised to rival Google Now and Siri. Amazon soon integrated Alexa with other devices like the Nest Learning Thermostat, Triby, Amazon Fire TV, Pebble Core, Logitech Harmony, August Home door lock, Nucleus Anywhere, and the Philips Hue system.
Most of them are part of a smart home ecosystem and we just know more will be added. Alexa is already featured on a smartwatch but only as a limited edition of the Omate Rise Carbon Fiber Watch. Another smartwatch model is getting friendly with Alexa and looks like CoWatch can be another bestseller. The new product is a round stylish smartwatch. Its maker claims it’s the first Alexa-enabled smartwatch in the world but as you know, we’ve already heard of the Omate.
This CoWatch smartwatch is compatible with both Android and iOS. You can take advantage of the Alexa Voice Service as long as you have WiFi or mobile Internet. The device runs Cronologics OS which is a custom wearable OS developed by the makers of the CoWatch. As with any other wearables, you can also monitor your heart rate and track all activities with the CoWatch.
Device is currently listed on Amazon with a $299 price tag. It’s available on Amazon Prime as a new stylish smartwatch powered by Cronologics OS that is based on the Android platform. The cloud-based Alexa makes this smartwatch a more powerful gadget for those people who are always on-the-go and still want to be updated with the news, weather, traffic, or Amazon shopping transactions.
By tapping on the CoWatch display, you can quickly ask Alexa for any information you need. The voice assistant will be happy to tell you things you want to know. You can use most Alexa features on the CoWatch but unfortunately, music streaming isn’t supported yet.
The CoWatch is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB onboard storage, Super AMOLED high-resolution display, and 400 x 400 pixel resolution. The smartwatch is set in stainless steel and comes in a zirconia ceramic body. It also features an accelerometer, magnetometer, gyro meter, vibro motor, and a heart rate sensor. CoWatch is water-resistant and can last up to 32 hours of continuous use in Always-On mode.
“Its maker claims it’s the first Alexa-enabled smartwatch in the world but as you know, we’ve already heard of the Omate.”
Actually, the CoWatch was the first Alexa-enabled smartwatch. You’ll note that the Omate claim carries the proviso of being the first *3G* smartwatch with Alexa built-in (CoWatch is WiFi/Bluetooth only).
