It’s always never too early for rumors or leaks about an upcoming premium flagship smartphone especially if it’s from a company that was recently on the spotlight not because of good news but because of the Note 7 fiasco. The main cause is still unknown and so while waiting for it, we’re growing more curious about the next Galaxy S8.

Much has been said about the flagship phone including the idea that it will come with an AI digital assistant known as Bixby. Samsung is hopeful about the S8 and we’re looking forward to that 5.5-inch 4K display, 8GB RAM, dual lens camera, and possibly two variants. We’re also looking forward to this one because it is believed the Galaxy S8 will show significant hardware changes. As with tradition, we’re anticipating for a Mobile World Congress launch in February but looks like it will be delayed to April perhaps to give more time for development and production.

The new design of the Galaxy S8 is said to have a button on the side edge that would launch the new virtual assistant based on a prototype which means it can still change. And yes, if launch is being delayed to April, then it really is too early.

Well, there’s also the possibility of Samsung trying to get feedback from the public before they finalize the design or maybe even decide if a Galaxy S8 will go into production. You see, the mobile division of Samsung is in a bad place right now and it needs to do the right thing.

As for the 4K display, that may not happen now as new rumors of a 2K display emerge. Samsung is now believed to be sticking to the 2K screen. So instead of 2160 x 3840, the Galaxy S8 might still have the same 1440 x 2560. Actually, this makes more sense for Samsung because the display isn’t a top priority–battery safety is. Samsung phones are already known for super clear displays that there’s no immediate need to upgrade. What’s more interesting is the idea that there will be no more home button since NO supplier is said to have received any order for a button component.

Interesting chain of developments, we say. I guess it’s too early especially if launch will be delayed to April. Let’s wait and see.

  1. Samsung – I don’t need another digital assistant to choose from! I would much rather see Google Assistant used (I know Google hasn’t allowed none Pixel devices to use it – yet). I would think spending 1/2 the $$$ spent on a Sammy AI on licensing Google Assistant would be better spent!
