HTC EVO 4G Android 2.2 Update Details, Download Now

If you have an HTC EVO 4G, then you need to head on over to the Sprint Site, and download yourself some Froyo. That is, unless you're already rooted and using Android 2.2, then you probably don't want to do that. In any event, this post is for everyone who might actually be interested in seeing what the official update has in store for EVO owners.

Motorola Droid: Android 2.2 Coming Next Week

There's a serious flurry of Android 2.2 related news breaking right now, and especially through the last few days. It's pretty obvious to everyone that every carrier and manufacturer out there is taking the update seriously, and considering the hassles they all went through with Android 2.0, and 2.1, that's to be expected. Now, though, we've got official word that Android 2.2 is coming to the original Motorola Droid beginning some time next week.

LG Android Tablet a Bit Late, Coming Fourth Quarter 2010

We just told you that Samsung has a tablet coming out. Furthermore, we divulged that the company plans on releasing it in the third quarter of this year. And, from what we already know about it (it's the Galaxy Tab, mind you), we are pretty excited about it. Not to be left in the wind, LG Electronics has come forward and said that they, too, will have an Android-based tablet made available this year. But, it's not coming out until the fourth quarter.

Samsung Android Tablet Coming in Third Quarter 2010

When we originally saw this report, we thought, just for a moment, that it was going to say the third quarter of 2011. Imagine our surprise, and relief, that it actually means this year. Which means that it's in the coming months, folks -- not a year. But, hearing about a Samsung-manufactured tablet isn't exactly new news. In fact, it's pretty old, especially if you look at the initial sightings of the Galaxy Tab.

Motorola M511 Launching in China

Want more Motorola MOTOBLUR-drenched handsets? How about one that's already been showcased around these parts? Well, good. Because here's the M511, or better known 'round here as the FlipOut. And, it's a welcomed addition to the already strong Motorola Android lineage within China right now, like the Backflip and XT800. And while the FlipOut is available right now in Europe, it's still missing here in the States. So, looks like we got skipped, ladies and gentlemen. (Is that a bad thing?)

Android Market Reaches 100,000 Submitted Apps, Maybe

The Android Market is exploding. It just seems like weeks ago that we were talking about it reaching only 60,000 apps. Oh, wait. That was only weeks ago. So, yes, we can safely say that the Android Market is exploding, and it's only going to get better. Today, Google can mark off another milestone, as the Market has apparently reached 100,000 submitted applications into their open market.

Motorola Droid X Source Code Released

Well, fancy that. Thanks to some keen eyes, and due to someone out there not despising Motorola for putting that eFuse in their device, we got word that Motorola has actually released the source code for the Droid X. Just like the Samsung Captivate for AT&T, this will go along way for the developers out there to start meandering their way through the system, and figuring out what they can do.

Samsung Vibrant: How to Tether Without Root [Video]

One of the best reasons to root your Android device, is to get your hands on some wired and wireless tethering options. It's one of the greatest features of Android, and probably why all the carriers out there want to charge us for it (we're lookin' at you, Verizon). But, that's not stopping Samsung from giving the option right from their own software, and some ingenious individuals out there from finding out how to actually use it.

Motorola Droid 2 Coming August 12th?

It's the end of July, and August is literally right around the corner. One of the things we're looking forward to the most is the Droid 2, and finally getting some official photography taken of the device. Plus, our hands-on time (that should be obvious). The release date of the device has been one of the best kept secrets within Verizon since its debut months ago, but now it looks like a recent leak from a Verizon internal screen shot shows the details of the Droid 2 release, but thanks to a couple of tips that we received, along with tips sent to Droid-Life, that rumored August 12th date is still standing firm.

Samsung Captivate Source Code Released by Samsung

Samsung, unlike Motorola, apparently wants you to have fun with your device, outside the normal restrictions. They have already released the source code for the international version of the Galaxy S, and now it looks like they want to do one better. They've just released the source code for the Samsung Captivate -- the version that was released on AT&T not too long ago. (Yeah, the one you can't side-load apps on.)
