The Sony Xperia Z4 has yet to be released and we’re guessing mobile carriers are already preparing for its coming. However, there is still the Xperia Z3 to deal with. In January, the smartphone together with the Xperia Z3 Compact, were rooted finally. We learned Android 5.0 Lollipop is coming to the Xperia Z2 and Xperia Z3 a few months after Sony played around with Lollipop AOSP on a Z3. A purple Xperia Z3 Purple Diamond Edition was also revealed after a limited edition series was announced earlier.
A T-Mobile Xperia Z3 page went up but device was listed as ‘coming soon’ in early October. Phone was soon made available before the same month ended. It was rumored to be coming to Verizon and it quickly arrived. Sony was generous to offer three free movies to owners of the phone. No doubt the phone is great. An underwater unboxing impressed many people especially after learning its battery can also last up to two days. However, despite all the positive reviews and marketing, the Sony Xperia Z3 did not become a bestseller.
Only six months after its launch on T-Mobile, the phone disappeared on the carrier’s website. A T-Mobile representative replied to a Twitter inquiry regarding the absence of the Xperia Z3. A link directed to a Sony page on T-Mobile was shared as a reply. The only phones available are the Xperia Z and Z1S–no Xperia Z3 in sight. This makes Verizon the only carrier offering Son’y flagship phone. You can also get a Sony Xperia Z3 phone on Amazon, as well as, other retailers with a $500 price point.
But then again, this disappearance could also mean another thing: the Sony Xperia Z4 is coming very soon. T-Mobile could only be paving the way for the Xperia Z4. We’re still not sure when the flagship phone will be released in the United States or if it ever will.
