Just because Samsung launched the Galaxy S7 earlier this 2016, it doesn’t mean the tech giant has completely forgotten the older models like the Galaxy S5. In fact, the company has been busy lately rolling out Marshmallow updates. The most recent we saw were for the T-Mobile Galaxy S5Samsung Galaxy Tab A and S5 LTE-A in South Korea and Trinidad & Tobago, and Galaxy S5 Plus. This time, its the Verizon Galaxy S5’s turn to be in the limelight.

Verizon is busy with the numerous SOFTware updates. They will be released in batches to ensure that every version is ready and without many kinks. Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow is now available for the following smartphone models: HTC One M8, HTC One M9, LG V10, LG G4, LG G3, LG G Pad 8.3, Droid Turbo 2, Droid Maxx 2, Samsung Galaxy S6,  Samsung Galaxy S6 edge, Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Samsung Galaxy S6 edge +, and Samsung Galaxy S5.

The mobile carrier will be adding more devices to the list of Marshmallow-ready phones and tablets. If you haven’t tried the fluffy update, you can always check and download  the necessary file.

There are more devices from Verizon that have not received Android 6.0 but they are expected to receive the OS update including the LG G4 LTE, HTC Desire 526, DROID TURBO, BlackBerry PRIV, HTC Desire 626, HTC Desire 612, and the older Samsung Galaxy S4.

  1. I hate marshmallow 6.0 it has my s5 trashed…good phone now it sucks…makes me want to go back to flip phone. ..

  2. The update did not work well on my S5. Seemed to complete but nothing worked (no home app or buttons). Boot to safe mode no help. Could not find “Software Repair” app for my computer, so went to Verizon store. They were unable to do a system reset and were about to give up when finally the system came up. When it was sitting on the red Verizon screen, we had to wait 15 minutes.

If you use an alternate home screen app (I use Nova Launcher) you might want to switch back to TouchWiz before applying the update.

Four hours later I had most things back they way I like, and much more free space so I don’t have to try to move a lot of apps to the SD card. Nearly everything is working fine but I’m not sure what is better than 5.1.

  3. Since updating my galaxy s5 September 1, 2016 my phone will no longer charge, or even term on, it used to flash the Samsung opening sign, now it doesn’t do that. Now that I put it on the charger, it flashes the battery then disappears, and repeats. If anyone could help me somehow my mail is robbielepe96@live.com

  4. Hi, could someone possibly help me. Since the last S5 update at the end of Oct (I’m on 6.0.1) my phone is having problems with the android wear app. If the app is installed the WiFi on the phone keeps turning on and off (so constant battery drain in non wifi areas) but when the app is uninstalled it returns to normal.
Google have advised me to go to Samsung, when I go to my local Samsung store either they are having network issues or staff off sick.
Anybody else experienced this and/or can offer a suggestion to remedy?
