Now that the Galaxy Note 7’s production has come to an end, we can still expect more related news to be published. Of course, the issue isn’t going to die that soon because Samsung still has not discovered the reasons for overheating and explosions. To be fair, Samsung mobile president has vowed to find the cause. Consumers are not be happy and some of them have expressed that they’re no longer staying with the brand.

We know all these will have different effects on other Samsung businesses. We’re still hoping though that the $2 billion loss prediction for Q4 2016 and Q1 2017 won’t happen. As we mentioned earlier, numerous international airlines have already posted official bans on the Note 7 on their flights.

Note 7 owners no longer have the freedom to air travel. That shouldn’t be a big problem because all Note 7 owners just have to surrender their phones and get a replacement. Samsung is encouraging another Galaxy phone as a replacement preferably the Galaxy S7 and S7 edge as they are still safe.

We noted this a while ago and it’s not only the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) that wants to ban all Galaxy Note 7 units from airplanes. The DOT teamed up with the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to publicly announce the ban as an ‘Emergency Restriction/Prohibition Order’.

The document issued last October 14 would serve as a reminder to air carriers and Galaxy Note 7 users. It stated there that a Note 7 is prohibited to be carried “in person, in carry-on baggage, checked baggage, or as cargo”. Charging or use of the phone is not allowed while inside the aircraft as this can result to accidental activation. Most features that turn on the phone must also be disabled.

Some other reminders in the document are listed as follows:

• individuals who bring the phone onto an aircraft must immediately power off the device
• do not use or charge the device while aboard the plane
• disable features that may turn on the device like alarm clock
• keep phone near yourself and not the compartment, seat back pocket, nor in any carry-on baggage
• airlines must remind and alert passengers about the ban/prohibition against air transport
• boarding can be denied to a passenger in possession of a Note 7
• anyone who will fail to comply with this Order is subject to civil penalties of up to $179,933 for each violation for each day or imprisonment of up to ten years
• Order will be effective until the Secretary determines that a hazard no
longer exists
