We’ve all been waiting for this: ad-free YouTube. Some people won’t mind paying a fee every month just so annoying ads would stop playing after a few minutes especially when watching a long video. They’re just commercials like when you’re watching traditional TV but it would be nice if they don’t play at all, right? This is something Google should have launched years ago but just the same, we’re glad it’s finally here.
Google’s YouTube announced the new video subscription service that will make your ad-free YouTube dreams come true. Officially called as YouTube Red, this service will cost $9.99 per month. If you subscribe to it, you are free to experience YouTube sans all the advertisements. That’s definitely good news to people whose rabbit hole is the video-sharing website (others have Facebook or BuzzFeed).
YouTube Red users can also take advantage of Google Play Music. This means you can enjoy unlimited music streaming anytime you want. For the parents who want a more filtered and “cleaner” YouTube, access to YouTube Kids is also included. And for the gamers, there’s YouTube Gaming when it’s time to watch other gamers show off playing your favorite games.
YouTube Red will commence on October 28, that’s exactly one week from now. You still have time to decided if you’re wiling to pay the membership fee (oh, I’m sure you’ll jump right in). Ten dollars is nothing if you really want that “ultimate YouTube experience”. You can also save the videos to watch offline like what epix and Amazon Prime members can already do.
Your YouTube Red access can be enjoyed on different devices so whether you’re on your desktop, smartphone, or tablet, you can sign in anywhere and watch ad-free videos all day long. Also included are YouTube Music Key features so you can play music in the background. This one though may be replaced by a separated YouTube Music app which is already in the works.
YouTube has plans to provide original content, shows and movies, exclusive for members only. YouTube Red Original Series and Movies will fully launch next year. Some Originals are already available to watch including Scare PewDiePie, Sing It!, Lazet Team, A Trip to Unicorn Island, Untitled Joey Graceffa project, 360 Project from MatPat of Game Theory, Single by 30, Untitled CollegeHumor project:, Fight of the Living Dead, and I Am Tobuscus.
Those who live in the US can try the YouTube Red service for one month starting October 28.
