Xiaomi Yi has introduced the Action Camera and Home Camera last year and the two variants will have a follow-up in the form of the YI 4K Action Camera. This one is more powerful as it can capture 4K videos. We knew that part there would be improved but we didn’t know when would Xiaomi work on it. This new Yi cam is said to be way better than the previous generation as it boasts of a 12MP Sony IMX377 sensor, f2.8 aperture, and 155-degree viewing angle.
The Sony IMX377 is the same sensor used on the Google Nexus 5X. It also comes equipped with a 6-axis gyroscope that enables the electronic image stabilization. Other features include a 2.19-inch touchscreen LCD display, 1400mAh battery, and impressive 4K recording at 30fps, as well as, 1440p at 60fps, and 2.5K at 30fps. There’s Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity and Wi-Fi so you can pair the camera with your smartphone.
The new Xiaomi Yi 4K Action Camera will be ready in white, rose gold, or black with a 1199 yuan/$184 price tag. We have no details on exact availability—when and where the Action Camera will be released but expect it to be available in China first.
