The last few days there has been lots of talk about the G2x and what is going on with it. First there was reports that it was pulled from T-Mobile due to quality control issues, only later denied by T-Mobiles twitter account stating that it was not pulled for QC and rather it was low on inventory because it was selling in high volumes. Now reports are coming out that they are currently getting ready to release the Gingerbread update soon and that it will fix some of the issues being reported.

We covered the issues and the T-Mobile updates regarding all this earlier and you can read all about that here. We mention exactly what T-Mobile has said yesterday regarding the device missing from online inventory. The statement reads: “The T-Mobile G2x has been very popular and high demand has resulted in inventory constraints, which we are working to address. We are working with LG to address inventory constraints and expect to return to normal levels in the coming weeks.”

Yet right after those tweets we also saw T-Mobile confirm that the G2x will be getting an OTA update to 2.3 Gingerbread and “by summer” was the wording they used. I’m not sure if that is better than the last statement they made back in April when they mentioned Gingerbread would be coming soon. So far all we know is Gingerbread is “coming soon” and now “by summer” so hopefully it comes sooner than later. Part of me wonders if T-Mobile and LG plan to keep stock low until the Gingerbread update is ready, because they do have a few issues to work out, that is for sure.
