Samsung has finally released a statement about the recent cases involving battery explosions after the recall. It has also formally discontinued production in South Korea while sales by mobile carriers like T-Mobile and AT&T are stopped temporarily as more Note 7 explosions are being reported in different countries aside from that one catching fire inside a plane before takeoff.
We’re worried that a second recall might happen. Samsung is halting sales (again) to ensure the safety of consumers as it is always their top priority. Officially, Samsung is asking global retail partners and carriers to stop all sales and exchanges. Yes, even the exchange program is being discontinued while Samsung is doing further investigation.
Here is the official statement from Samsung:
We are working with relevant regulatory bodies to investigate the recently reported cases involving the Galaxy Note7. Because consumers’ safety remains our top priority, Samsung will ask all carrier and retail partners globally to stop sales and exchanges of the Galaxy Note7 while the investigation is taking place. We remain committed to working diligently with appropriate regulatory authorities to take all necessary steps to resolve the situation. Consumers with either an original Galaxy Note7 or replacement Galaxy Note7 device should power down and stop using the device and take advantage of the remedies available.
Samsung is urging Note 7 owners to stop using the phone. They are advised to power down and avail of any solutions as much as possible.
