So we probably all know about the big hullaballoo about the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 causing fires and explosions because of a battery issue. That has been a major issue with Samsung that they were forced to do a recall of the flagship phablet, source out the batteries from a new supplier, and basically replace the units they sold before from launch date to September 15. The problem now is that a number of incidents with replacement units have come up, saying that they are doing the exact same thing – causing fires and explosions.

With Samsung‘s investigation of these issues pending, two major US mobile carriers in AT&T and T-Mobile have announced that they are stopping their replacement processes for the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 recall until investigation on these new incidents have been done. “We still encourage customers with a recalled Note7 to visit an AT&T location to exchange that device for another Samsung smartphone or other smartphone of their choice,” says the AT&T announcement.

T-Mobile also says basically the same thing, that they have stopped giving out replacement Note 7’s and they are committed to their customers: “Customers can still bring their recalled Note7 or the new replacement Note7, along with accessories they purchased from T-Mobile, to a T-Mobile store for a full refund and choose from any device in T-Mobile’s inventory. We’ll waive any restocking charges, and customers who purchased during pre-order can keep the free Netflix subscription and Gear Fit or SD card they received.

Most US major carriers have announced that customers can bring in their Note 7 units – original or a replacement one – to their stores for either an exchange or a refund. We have no idea how deep this is going to affect Samsung now, but we will let you guys in on the details as soon as news items on the investigation comes out. For now, it’s not looking good.
