Samsung Galaxy Tab S2

Aside from the new Galaxy Tab A, there’s also the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 tipped to be even thinner than iPad Air 2 arriving in the next few months. Compared to the budget-friendly Galaxy Tab A, this one is the next generation of Samsung’s high-end tablet which is an obvious follow up to last year’s Galaxy Tab S model. We’re actually expecting a June announcement since the first-gen was revealed in June 2014.

So far, we now that the Super AMOLED tablet has already been given Bluetooth- and WiFi-certifications. The version isn’t just WiFi since the model tested was a 4G LTE variant. Nothing is certain yet but it could be the standard entry-level variant already too.

Recently certified were the SM-T815 and SM-T817 models of the 9.7-inch Galaxy Tab S 2. We also learned that they will be replacing the current SM-T805 model from Samsung. We didn’t hear about the specs the first time but based on the certification documents, the new Galaxy premium tablet will boast of Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity and of course, dual-band 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi support. The first Galaxy Tab S has gotten a taste of Android 5.0 and it was recently updated to Android Lollipop –specifically the Android 5.0.2 version.

WiFi and Bluetooth certifications were handed only this April. Not much details on the specs and features yet but we’re expecting a high 2048 x 1536 pixel resolution, 4:3 aspect ratio, DDR4 RAM, probably Samsung’s very own Exynos 7420 SoC processor or that 1.9 GHz Exynos 5433, 32GB built-in storage, 2 megapixel front-facing cam, and an 8MP main camera. No mention on the dimensions either but we heard it will thinner than Apple’s iPad Air 2. We’ll see about that.
