Oppo is set to unveil the upcoming R9S. Images of the Android mobile device was leaked last week. That was a couple of months after it was sighted on TENAA. We expected it would be announced soon in China but the company has been silent about it. The smartphone is definitely coming as a TV commercial is already running in China. And now, official press invites are being sent out.

The media launch will happen on October 19. We’ll finally get to see if the smartphone really comes equipped with the following: 5.5-inch screen, 1080 pixel display, 16MP and 13MP camera combo, Snapdragon 625 chipset, f/1.7 lens aperture, OPPO SmartSensor, and a Sony IMX398 camera sensor. The latter plus the SmartSensor which will be used for image stabilization make the OPPO R9S imaging-centric. We’re guessing the selfie cam will also be 16MP just like the OPPO F1 Plus.

The phone sighted on TENAA was also pictured recently. We have no information on availability and pricing yet but expect the OPPO R9S to be introduced in a special event. The Chinese OEM seems to have worked hard on this one. Obviously, it will be an amped up version of the OPPO R9 and R9S announced back in March.
