It’s Motorola that’s dominating the tech pages this time of the year in anticipation of the devices they will be launching soon. Front and center is their bid for the bang-for-your-buck phone of the year, the 2015 Moto G, which we have written about in these pages for a while now. The new Moto G’s launch is imminent, and so we have information leaking about when and where that would happen.

Brazilian website Tecmundo feels that it has the goods on when Motorola will be launching its new budget phone. Motorola seems to have a relationship with the Latin American country, as it has launched multiple phones in Brazil before this. Tecmundo says the new Moto G will be launched on July 28 in an event in Sao Paolo. This might be as close to the truth as we get.

Let me remind you of what you’re getting. The 2015 Moto G features a 5-inch HD (720p) screen powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor. This refresh of the chipset makes the Moto G LTE-capable, with probably 1GB RAM. You can get either a basic version with 8GB internal storage, or a 16GB variant. All models are IPX7-certified for dust and water resistance.

According to Tecmundo’s sources, the basic 8GB variant will be priced at around USD$287. That’s quite the movement from its predecessors which kept the pricing below USD$200. We wonder if people will still gobble this phone up like crazy, given the elevated price point.

  1. It was never about how good the phone was- it was about how good the phone was for $180.00. I’m going to be flat out disgusted if it has only 1GB ram. I have a first Gen Moto G with 1GB ram. I wont be buying the phone at that price, but I’m still going to be surprised if they acually only put 1GB ram.
