Motorola Moto X Android 5.1 Lollipop

Moto phones always get the first Android Lollipop updates. That’s expected ever since the Moto G was the first to get Android 5.0 officially and because of Google and Motorola’s previous partnership. We already noted that four more Moto phones were being prepped to receive Android 5.1 and the Moto X (1st-gen) was included in the list. No need to wait that long if you own this smartphone model and no need to be clueless and frustrated because the software upgrade already started its TestDrive phase in the United States and Latin America.

This information came from David Schuster, Motorola Mobility’s Software Product Manager, who shared on his Google+ page the good news. The upgrade is going to be fully deployed very soon–in the coming weeks if everything goes well. The reason for the delay was due to lack of support from some of Motorola‘s partners. Only a few weeks after learning that the first-gen Moto is finally getting Android 5.1 Lollipop, it’s almost here.

A few Android phones already have Android 5.1 Lollipop. Most phones have Android 5.0, Android 5.0.1, or Android 5.0.2 but the latest is Android 5.1 which was announced with sweet new Lollipop features last March. Some of the first phones to receive Android 5.1 include the Verizon Nexus 6, Nexus 5, Moto G GPE, LG G Pad 8.3 GPE, Nexus 9, WiFi Nexus 7, NVIDIA SHIELD Tablet, NVIDIA Portable, and several Moto phones, and even the Nexus Player.

All these software updates and rollouts result to almost 10 percent of all Android devices already getting a taste of the sweet Lollipop. If you’re a first-gen Moto X owner, just wait for a few more weeks before the Android 5.1 arrives. It’s coming for real so stop biting your nails.
