LG is still alive. No, we’re not saying it’s in danger but the other South Korean tech giant needs to rethink its strategy to maintain its position in the mobile game. The company needs to be more careful especially since the Chinese OEMs are becoming more aggressive. Huawei has already overtaken Apple and is determined to take on Samsung. It may not happen anytime soon but it’s a possibility. Good thing for LG, it started to make changes earlier this year when it decided to change its marketing strategy.
For 2019, LG will launch the LG G8 flagship sometime in March. It will be out in South Korea first before the other key markets. We know the OEM is cutting down on target and we’re hoping it will do the brand good.
LG Electronics is expected to announce a 5G smartphone. There’s also the foldable phone idea as the company was discovered to have registered foldable-flexible names for trademark. Five brand names related to a foldable phone have been filed but we don’t think it will be ready in time for the CES 2019.
We’re not sure about the LG G8 5G but definitely, an LTE version will be ready. It may come with a 3D camera. The notch may also be replaced by a waterdrop notch.
A separate 5G phone may be introduced for release in Korea, US, and Europe. It may not be a ‘G’ phone but rather from a different series.
Before the LG G8 is announced, the OEM will launch the LG Q9 next month. To review, it boasts a large 6.1-inch screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, 32GB onboard storage, 4GB RAM, and a 3000mAh battery.
