Enough of the G5 SE speculations, we just found out the ‘G5 SE’ was trademarked not to make fun of Apple but would be used for a lighter version of the LG G5. We’ve been rooting for the souped down version to be launched in Latin America and we’ve been saying the G5 Lite would be introduced as mid-range phone after being spotted on TENAA.

The QuickCover cases available on Mobile Fun were listed with a G5 SE compatibility. We were’t really thinking that the LG G5 SE would be an upgraded LG G5 but more as a lower variant. True enough, this LG G5 SE is the lighter variant targeted for China, Latin America, and some other regions. Instead of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, this one will use the Snapdragon 652 just like the HTC 10 Lifestyle. This means the LG G5 SE really is mid-range version of the LG G5.

Most of the things we heard the past few weeks turned out to be true. Latin America will get a lower-specced version. We didn’t think much of China but looks like LG wants to be challenged in a market saturated by local Chinese OEMs. This watered down version of the new G5 will have the same specs and features except for the Qualcomm MSM8976 Snapdragon 652, Adreno 510, and 3GB RAM.

Aside from China and Latin America, there’s another rumor that the LG G5 SE will also be released in the CIS region (Commonwealth of Independent States) in countries like Russia, Armenia, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine.
