Huawei is serious with becoming No. 1 not just in China but the whole of the mobile industry. It has edged out Xiaomi the past several quarters and now has big plans to enter the American market. These strategies include trying to topple Samsung and Apple. Huawei already holds the third place in the global smartphone market when it comes to shipments. The company is said to be launching a premium smartphone with dual-lens camera we’re assuming is the P9 designed with a Leica dual lens camera. Actually, we’re expecting the launch to happen today, April 6.

The next Huawei phone will be unveiled in London. The Chinese OEM has been teasing the public with dual cameras. We’ve seen a number of leaked images and benchmark sightings already plus the fact that Huawei President was seen with the supposedly upcoming P9 with dual camera sensors with a metal body and fingerprint scanner.

We never doubted that Huawei will release a new imaging-centric smartphone but we’re curious to know if this high-end device will make the company as the same level as Samsung and Apple. Execs and employees have been working harder to push their products. Budget on marketing and research and development have gone up to make sure the brand can be worthy of being on top.

Tipped to make it big this 2016, Huawei also has plans to launch a new flagship phone later this year in the United States. If you may remember, we mentioned that Huawei will roll out four P9 variants this 2016. The company has started to enter country with a few models under the Honor brand but it has yet to make it big in the market. It’s already gaining traction in Europe though with all the Honor phones. Shipment increased by an impressive 51%.

The most recent Huawei phones that we know that are currently available or will be available in the US include the Honor 5X, Huawei GX8, Huawei Mate 8, and of course, the Huawei-made Nexus 6P although it’s more known as a Google product.

Traditional OEMs have been told to watch for Chinese smartphone companies like Huawei because they may dominate 2016. It may be a long way before Huawei beats Samsung and Apple but recent numbers indicate that it can get closer. Last year, about 100 million devices where shipped, resulting to a 44% increase in shipments and 73% in consumer gadget revenue. Global smartphone market share is only 8.9% during Q4 which is far from Apple and Samsung who captured 19% and 21%, respectively.

Huawei has all the capacity to be more successful in the US market and the rest of the world. It will be more challenging in Germany and the United Kingdom where mobile carriers sell Samsung and Apple devices at really low prices. If Huawei wants to enter the game, it must also be willing to give lower prices. The company should also be more creative when it comes to phone design.

When it comes to advertising, Huawei is expected to be bolder, more aggressive, and more innovative if it really wants to achieve the $100 billion target revenue in five years as set by CEO Ren Zhengfe.
