The following review is for the game Asphalt 6: Adrenaline as it’s played specifically on the Xperia PLAY, but you can easily glean the information you need to decide whether or not you’d like to download and play the game on any Android platform because the game doesn’t change a significant amount from platform to platform. The difference between your everyday average Android device playing this racing game and the Xperia PLAY is the ease of use in the controls. Afterburner forward with your index finger!

This game comes from Gameloft, this meaning that if you don’t have the game on your device when you take it out of the box, you’re going to have to go to Gameloft to purchase it (this instead of the place most apps are available, the Android Market.) This game comes in several different iterations, the three most notable being the basic Android build with which you’ll be using your touchscreen to steer (or the entire device if you prefer,) the LG Optimus 3D version, and the Xperia PLAY version. The version we’re looking at here today is the Xperia PLAY version, but first let’s have a look at the 3D version via our “Hands-on with 3D” video from our Optimus 3D full review. Have a peek starting at around 1/2 way through the following for some hot 3D racing action:

Next let’s literally have a crashin’ good time looking at this app on the Xperia PLAY. This version of the game allows you to utilize the PlayStation controls for steering, turbo, and gassing your way to victory. There are two main objects in this game, one of them being winning the game by being in the first car to cross the finish line. The second is to destroy your competition by literally railroading them off the track or directly into other vehicles. It’s evil awesome.

Asphalt 6: Adrenaline on Xperia PLAY

The graphics are impeccable, the splash screens are the best thing on Android, and slowdown and stopping on every device I’ve tested the game on is nonexistent. Gameloft here presents a flagship racing game that they can be proud to have sitting on the out-of-the-box builds of a whole handful of Android devices. Well played, Gameloft, you’re going to be around for quite some time to come.

You can download Asphalt 6: Adrenaline from Gameloft right now if you’re using any Android device other than the Xperia PLAY. If you’re using the Xperia PLAY, you’d best head to the Xperia PLAY app to access your V-Cast store! Grab it instantly!
