I must say that was pretty fast HTC. Just a few short days ago they mentioned the Thunderbolt and Incredible would both get 2.3 Gingerbread in September. Now two or so days later it appears the Incredible is already getting the OTA update because it’s hitting handsets right this minute. If you are confused, the update was started back on the 15th but was quickly delayed for a few bugs HTC or Verizon found.
A few days after the first OTA started rolling out it was halted for some fixes but now all systems are a go because its live again. This is the newest version coming from HTC and shouldn’t have any issues or bugs the previous builds had. The last OTA was later leaked online but this official build is what you want.
For all the details regarding the official Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread update for the HTC Incredible feel free to stop by the Verizon support page. As always the update should hit handsets over the course of the next week and those that do not wish to wait can always manually update by going to Settings>About Phone>HTC Updates and then hit OK.
With this finally starting today does this mean the official update for the Thunderbolt is coming soon too?

Droid 2 and Droid X just got it too.
I put the leaked version on my phone. I’m I screwed now?. Can I go back to 2.2 to get the offical version or will I still get offical version. If I need to put 2.2 on how?
I still don’t have it.
I don’t have it now. mm
I just got mine 🙂
I just received the OTA Official update this morning.
Not here yet in FL for me. 7:04 pm 9/7
Still waiting here in GA too.
Still waiting in PA
I received my update this morning. While the update itself went smooth the update did seem to make most of my apps unavailable. To be fair it seems like most of the unavailable apps were on the SD Card (but not all). I have had to download them and reinstall them today which is a pain. Also, some of my purchased apps are no longer compatible with my phone, NFS Shift and Tetris are two such examples. Hopefully EA will update these and the other devs will update the others as I paid for these apps and now can’t use them. Anyway, can’t seem to see much benefit out of the update but maybe I am wrong.
i was prompted to install the update, pressed install and nothing happend… phone says its still 2.2 but still up to date.., every one else in my region has updated thier phones.. any one having this issue? or any advice on a way to make my phone install manually? (besides flashing the rom..)

HTC Incredible (original) – No update here in Florida to Gingerbread. Hope they are fixing it up right nice as I see a lot of issues folks are having. When fully baked please door-step drop-ship! Thx
*twiddles thumbs*
Still waiting for mine. In TN.
Still waiting in Tulsa, OK
Is this a fake post? There is no “HTC Updates” option in Settings->About Phone … there is a “System updates” option, and it says I’m up to date with 2.2
VZW Customer service confirms an update as been ‘batched’, but no Gingerbread yet!
So much for releasing in September. WTF Verizon?!!
ok i still havnt gotten mine. sombody help/
The latest reply johnt519 got when he questioned HTC directly was:
While we certainly understand the need for the most updated software, unfortunately at this time we have no information available other than our official release which reads as follows:”It has come to the attention of Verizon Wireless and HTC that customers using the Droid Incredible by HTC have experienced a voicemail notification error with the recent software update. As a result, the update has been temporarily suspended while the companies work together to resolve the issue. Verizon Wireless and HTC anticipate the update being available soon; customers will be notified directly on their devices when it is ready for download.”
Apparently, lots of bugs happened once it got out and they’ve stopped the updates. VZW is not trying hard enough. ;-(
I just got the update tonight. My phone is at 2.3.4. It looks like Christmas came a little early this year. Finally.
installed the 2.3.4 update today, and it seriously jacked my phone. continuous low memory warnings, phone screen is blank, and error messages galore. instead of going through another brain damaging hard reset process and wasted setup time (3rd time with this phone), i’m switching to iphone.
