Xiaomi Pocophone Poco F1 DXOMark Review 2

The Xiaomi Pocophone F1 (Poco F1) is one of the few phones that impressed us recently. The device was first unveiled in India with premium specs and an affordable price last August. It was then compared with other gaming phones like the OnePlus 6 even before its global launch. We saw a teardown that further confused us because the smartphone is well-designed you’d wonder how it is affordable. The phone passed a Durability Test and we discovered that it is easy-to-open and is “cool” but not waterproof.

Xiaomi has made the Android 9 Pie-based Pixel Experience ready for the Pocophone F1. We also know it would be ready for Android Q. Meanwhile in India, it’s ready for MIUI 10 beta.

To phone comes equipped with a large 6.18-inch LCD screen with 1080 × 2246 pixel resolution, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, 6GB RAM, and dual 12MP and 5MP rear cameras with PDAF and dual-LED flash. It’s getting 960FPS slo-mo and Night mode with the next update.

The premium design and specs may intimidate some people used to mid-rangers but Xiaomi’s Pocophone F1 is really a simple, affordable smartphone. It’s one interesting phone that DxOMark took notice. It got a decent score of 91–not great, just good. It’s behind the Apple iPhone 8 at No. 12.

Xiaomi Poco F1 is able to offer accurate target exposures indoors and outdoors, fast and accurate autofocus, good exposure and color using flash, plus pleasant color in all lighting conditions. The downsides include unnatural face rendering in bokeh shots, low detail and strong ringing using zoom, and low level of detail in low light.

When it comes to mobile video, you can take advantage of the good autofocus tracking, the same fast and accurate autofocus, effective stabilization, and of course, vivid colors in all lighting conditions. You may notice some exposure and white balance instabilities, limited dynamic range, and low detail in most conditions.
