Finally and officially, Xiaomi has announced the new Mi 5S and 5S Plus smartphones. Apart from the new Mi TV 3S, the top Chinese phone manufacturer has proudly unveiled the latest Android-running devices we confirmed a few days ago. The Xiaomi event scheduled earlier this month became the launching pad for numerous products and services–the new flagship Mi 5 phones included.
The Xiaomi Mi 5S and 5S Plus are new variants of the Mi 5 that was released in February. We noted that it has beaten the iPhone 6S and 6S PLUS in a 4-Axis OIS shake it off test. Its screen disappointed us but the LTE bands were supported in the US. As for the new Mi 5 variants, we can expect several important enhancements.
Surely, the ‘S’ and ‘S Plus’ in the name has got to mean something. Specs of the new phones include the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor, USB Type-C, pressure-sensitive screen, and dual-rear camera setup we saw on the Redmi Pro. Unlike the glass and metal design of the Mi 5, these two feature an all-metal unibody design.
