Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed that there will be a Mi 5S, but it seems like it’s a foregone conclusion, especially now that they’ve sent out the press invitations for the launch of their new product. The invite doesn’t mention the product by name of course, but it does feature the letter S prominently, so unless they’re releasing a Superman-themed product (which is highly unlikely of course), then we might as well expect the Mi 5S to be officially announced by September 27.

The expected smartphone from the Chinese brand has been the subject of much rumors and speculation, because that’s what we love doing of course. It is rumored to be sporting a 5.15-inch display and will most likely be powered by the Snapdragon 821 chipset. They say it will also have a 6GBRAM and 256GB of internal storage, which places it on a probably high-end category and should make all of you storage hogs happy.

When it comes to the camera, the only thing we know for now is that it has a 16GB main camera, which is not that impressive, but let’s wait and see if there’s something more to that. Battery-wise, it should have a 3,490mAh battery which is a little better than the ones currently in the market. And one new thing that’s being bandied about is that it might come with Qualcomm’s ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, which sounds like a superpower but may be just a fancy way of saying you can unlock your phone and apps faster.

We have a few more days to find out whether or not all these speculation and rumors are true as the event is slated for September 27. Who knows, Xiaomi might just surprise us with something other than the Mi 5S, although that’s highly unlikely at this point.
