When it comes to processors, don’t think that the mobile business is all about Intel, Qualcomm, or Exynos. Another game-changer is MediaTek with its Helio line of chips that OEMs are using as cheaper alternative. The latest model is the Helio X20 which has been spotted recently blowing away the best records. It’s also believed to pave the way for 10-core smartphones but we have yet to know its powers.
We were told the Elephone P9000 would have it but didn’t at launch. That Geekbench sighting a few weeks back didn’t give us any information which smartphone except for the ‘alps mt6797’ reference. Fortunately, AnTuTu has some information about an Helio X20-powered device.
Meizu MX6 is said to use the new Helio X20 processor. According to the database, the device is packed with a 1080p display screen, MT Helio X20 chip with a 10-core 3-cluster processor (2.5GHz 2x Cortex-A72, 2.0GHz 4x Cortex-A53 at 2.0GHz, 1.4GHz 4x Cortex-A53), 3GB RAM, Mali-T880 MP4 GPU, 32GB onboard storage, and of course, Android 6.0 Marshmallow with the Flyme launcher on top.
The Meizu MX6 has yet to be announced by its manufacturer. Honestly, we have no information about it yet as we just focused our attention to the Meizu Pro 5 and the Meizu M2 the past months. We’re betting on the Helio X20 being found on the MX6 because the X10 chip was used by the MX5 last year. It may be too early to tell but at least this rumor makes sense. Let’s wait for more leaks and rumors to be revealed until the official announcement from Meizu.
