Almost one and half years after the first Moto 360 was introduced by Motorola, we’re now anticipating for the next-gen version. The smartwatch has been the subject of numerous rumors of what could be the next wearable from the company. After we learned that the Google Store slashed the price of Moto 360 a few months back, we started hearing about it popping up at Bluetooth SIG. Even more details were shared last month.
One of the few problems we encountered with the Moto 360 is the “flat tire” on display. Those “Little Worlds” watch faces proved to be very useful but they did not really solve the problem. Looks like the next-gen wearable device will have the same problem based on this image we got from an “okay Moto” video.
The Moto 360 looks a bit different from the first model. The button on the right is now located on the upper-right. The flat tire is still very obvious and we think that Motorola should really work on the display. It may just be a prototype but why show off something that’s not yet ready? It could also be a mock-up but whatever it is, that flat tire must go.
The round watch design is already attractive but Motorola must make this more special. It’s not really difficult to remove that, right? Make the display larger. Samsung and LG have followed Motorola by showing off their own round-faced smartwatch without the flat tire.
No doubt there will be a next-gen Moto 360. In fact, a couple of related products have recently passed through Anatel, Brazil’s FCC. Products with model numbers 360S and 360L were sighted on Anatel and they’re believed to be the next variants of Moto 360. The idea of the smartwatch coming in two versions is new but really interesting.
The 360S and 360L could be two sizes–small and large. That’s just a speculation so it should be taken with a pinch of salt. But then again, the fact that the device models were spotted on Anatel means it will have some “radio” in it because that’s what the telecommunications agency does: check any product with radio because it’s ready for public release in Brazil.
We learned that the smartwatch models feature Bluetooth LE, WiFi b/g/n, 270mAh and 375mAh internal batteries for the 360S and the 360L respectively. Motorola’s ‘S’ and ‘L’ variants of the smartwatch are something to look forward. Let’s wait and see until the Lenovo-owned company makes an official announcement.
