The Moscone Center West was filled last May 28 to 29 as hundreds of Google developers joined together for the I/O 2015 conference. Google I/O is an annual event for all creative coders and Google developers who are building apps and who want to be equipped more when it comes to design and development. At the Google I/O 2015, the latest in mobile and technology were explored and presented to give a glimpse of what’s next from the tech giant.
Google has already wrapped up the events and photos and videos have been shared on the Internet. As always, the Google I/O 2015 was livestreamed to over 450 locations in 91 countries and across 6 continents. SVP Sundar Pichai shared in his keynote the “Be together. Not the same.” motto giving us an idea that people need updates to the Android that work for them.
The upcoming Android M was presented and we were told there will be hundreds of new features. Google also noted that it’s easier now to develop an app, engage users, and as well as, earn from Google. Several developer and design talks and seminars were held to educate the participants of what Google has to offer. Also presented was the biggest update in Material Design guidelines for devs to take note of.
Highlighted during the Google I/O was the idea that Android is not just for mobile. Google is ready to take on computing, as well as, the automotive industry with new Chrome products and service, Brillo for the Internet of Things, plus the Android Auto technology.
Google has been working on a new feature that will assist you in the moment or wherever you are. It’s called the Google Now on Tap which is also expected to receive some more updates. If you may remember, the new Google Photos was also announced.
The search giant proudly launched the “Family star” icon for a new family discovery experience, making it easier for parents to discover high quality and family-friendly content. There was also a mention on what’s next for Cardboard (Google Expeditions) and the company’s larger effort in virtual reality.
Google executives have noted the company and the developers and the users can work together to solve hard problems especially those that we can’t solve on our own. There are still many challenges ahead but for those passionate with development, the most valuable one can do for a project is to get out and get into contact with real people.
