T-Mobile G2 hitting End of Life Already?

Smartphones have feelings too and when the term EOL gets placed next to their name they get sad. End of Life is what we are now seeing tied to the HTC T-Mobile G2 in a leaked T-Mobile document. It appears that the popular slider from team magenta will be getting shipped to the Android Cemetery in the coming weeks. It has been missing from the T-Mobile online store for a little while and many stores are out of stock with none en route.

Way back when it released it was a great device and it still considered to be no slouch but they must make way for the HTC Sensation 4G and the Samsung Hercules. You can see our original review of the HTC G2 right here.

Sadly it has yet to receive Gingerbread but we have a feeling that is coming soon as HTC has recently updated a few of their phones to 2.3 Gingerbread. It does say “nearing” EOL so it may still be around for a few more months.

The phone seemed decent, but I avoided it because of all the crapware that’s installed – and you can’t get rid of it without rooting.

I got a replacement G2 this past week and it came with Gingerbread, while I still hadn’t received the OTA update on my previous G2. Not sure what that means, but my G2 is running Gingerbread just fine.

        Sure – I’ll upload shortly.

Well, my G2 is a workhorse…never once had the dreaded memory warning, runs solid, access to hotspot allows me to fuel my transformer on the go and wifi calling makes it cheap to travel and talk.  It may be going EOL, but I’ll have mine at least until we find out the deal from the dreaded merger.  But I want that Gingerbread!
