Android Community Weekly: October 21st, 2012

Welcome to another Android Community weekly wrap-up of everything that mattered to us in the world of Android news. Where do we start? It was another hectic and exciting week in Android news, and next week will be even crazier. We'll start with Google, since they had two major bits of news. The first being Google's officially scheduled an Android event for October 29th, so be ready for some Android 4.2 and Nexus news next Monday. Read on below for the rest from Google, HTC, Motorola and more.

Nexus 7 poised to take on the iPad Mini

It's no secret that the folks from Apple are likely set to announce their new iPad Mini next week, then release it in the following days. The battle is really going to heat up in the tablet wars once this happens, but Google doesn't need to worry. With the info leaked all week on the Nexus 7's imminent future, even with a 3G capable iPad Mini on Apple's side, Google will have all their bases covered for this holiday season.

Angry Birds Star Wars teaser shows you’re never too short to be a Stormtrooper

We have another Angry Birds Star Wars teaser to share with you today, and this one is a bit funnier than the last one we showed you. Again, this latest teaser doesn't show any gameplay footage, instead giving us another clip from the classic films. Last time, it was the scene from A New Hope where Han tells Luke and Obi-Wan about his famous Kessel run, whereas this time, we have Princess Leia asking about the stature of a curious-looking Stormtrooper.

Nexus 7 32GB appears at Staples for $249

So we basically know a 32GB Nexus 7 is coming, we just don't quite know when. Most clues point to the October 29th event that Google will be hosting in NYC. Today it appears that ASUS and Google's new 32GB Nexus 7 is already shipping to retailers in the US -- they just cant sell them yet. What is even better is they are priced at $249.

The Twitter account has been spot on with multiple devices and leaks over the past few months, and this time around we're expecting the same. We get a pretty generic shot of the front, but the leakster confirms the name and a few more specs.
