JIT – now making your Donut build twice as fast.
is a method of converting bytecode into native machine code, rather than Android’s Dalvik VM simply interpreting the bytecode. This speeds up apps and overall performance drastically. Cyanogen’s Nexus One build Beta 3 included JIT and has set the top speed on BenchmarkPi; OpenEclair 1.0.1 included JIT and absolutely flew.

One of the new features that was introduced to Android with the release of the Nexus One and Android 2.1 was the voice to text input. This feature has now been duplicated and is available now for all Android devices. The folks over at Better Android has just released Better Keyboard V5.0.

AT&T picking up HTC Desire, Sprint grabbing HTC Hero2
BGR just received word from an unnamed source at HTC that states the Desire will be headed to AT&T while the Legend will land on Sprint. They also told them that Google will be looking to sell an AT&T 3G-compatible Nexus One directly through their web store, but the unit for AT&T network will be the Sense UI Desire. But unlike the current Nexus being only available via Google's phone site, there will also be an option for AT&T customers to pick this puppy up in stores.

Slacker, Inc. has finally unveiled  their v2.0 of their software for Android handsets the big update in this new version is that Slacker Radio Plus. This edition allows users to cache their favorite radio stations and listen to them offline. That means you can have your music with you whether you have a data connection or not. This is great for users that has Android devices with no data plans. You can hop on WIFI, cache all your music and still have it with you while you are on the go.

Android Market Has the Highest Percentage Of Free Apps
At this years Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, the company Distimo presented a study on the status of the Android Market. Their results showed that Android had the highest concentration of free apps in respect to the total amount of apps available. Every month more than 3,000 applications are added to Android Market. And out of the total, 57% of applications are free.
