att wifi calling

Wi-Fi Calling is something AT&T subscribers have been demanding for some time now ever since T-Mobile and Verizon announced the availability of the service in their networks. But even before the carriers enabled such feature, some apps have already allowed it like Facebook on the Messenger app and Skype.

This time, it’s AT&T’s turn to allow Wi-Fi Calling although limited to some devices only. The service started only yesterday, October 8, to the delight of those loyal subscribers who understand that there are some areas in the country where cellular signal is week. With this development, more people can take advantage of the Internet connection and be able to communicate with family and friends whether they are at work or at home.

Not all smartphones can be used for WiFi Calling though. Right now, only iOS 9 devices under a postpaid wireless account set-up for HD Voice can enjoy AT&T’s latest offering. Not available for Android devices yet but it should be ready soon but probably on limited models and devices only.

Friends, family, and colleagues can still call you on your regular cellular phone number. No need to use a separate app either because AT&T will be the one to recognize what kind of connection you have. Place a call just like you would a regular phone call even if you are only connected to your WiFi network.
