The most recent news about a Kyocera phone we heard was last August when we learned that AT&T would be offering the DuraForce Pro by end of the month. That was only a few days after it was formally announced as a rugged smartphone and action camera in one. A month earlier, the Kyocera Hydro SHORE was also offered exclusively by AT&T GoPhone and Walmart. It seems devices from this brand are being sold by most carriers so we know it certainly has a market.

The DuraForce PRO is now available on Verizon but this time, with a new Sapphire Shield upgrade. It means the phone is more tough and ready for rough use. It’s dustproof and waterproof as made possible by its IP68 rating. You can also take underwater shots with it, thanks to the HD action camera. The Sapphire Shield is an exclusive offering from Verizon so you won’t get it from any other carriers selling the DuraForce PRO.

The Sapphire Shield display still measures 5 inches. It’s very scratch-proof so you won’t have to worry about keeping it inside your back pocket together with your keys.

Phone comes equipped with a 5-inch Sapphire Shield display, 13MP rear camera, 5MP front-facing cam, 32GB onboard storage, 3GB RAM, microSD card slot for expansion, oct-core processor, and a 3240mAh battery. The Kyocera DuraForce PRO with Sapphire Shield runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow out of the box.

This Kyocera phone’s full retail price is $408 but you can also get it with no downpayment for qualified customers and a $17 monthly fee for 24 months.
