If you’re in the market for both an action camera and a new rugged smartphone, why not just buy one device that can be both? That’s the selling point that the Kyocera DuraForce PRO is offering, and if you’re an AT&T subscriber or plan to be one, then you can have this device with the carrier starting August 31. It will also be available for purchase in their physical stores by September 6.

In case you haven’t heard of this device yet, the Kyocera DuraForce PRO has a 5-inch Full HD display and is powered by a Qualcomm MSM 8952 Snapdragon octa-core processor. It has 2GB RAM (not so impressive though) and 32GB of internal storage, which can be expanded to 256GB through a microSD card. It has a fingerprint sensor on the power button to add another layer of security or to make it more convenient to unlock your device.

But of course the selling points of this smartphone is the fact that it’s waterproof, dustproof, shockproof, and drop proof. It is IP68 certified so you can immerse it in up to 6.5 feet of water for up to 30 minutes and it will survive (hopefully). It also has Military Standard 810G protection. Kyocera says it’s the first rugged smartphone to have a Super Wide View HD Action Camera to go well with its 13MP main shooter and the 5MP front-facing one. You will be able to use it like you would a GoPRO.

You can get the DuraForce PRO from AT&T through their AT&T Next program for $13.97/month for 30 months or through the AT&T Next Every Year for $17.46/month for 24 months. They did not give a price if you will buy it outright, but we’ll probably find out over the next couple of days.
