HTC seems to be busy rolling out Android 5.0 updates phones under its current lineup. The company could be in a hurry before the new flagship phone is unveiled at the Mobile World Congress this coming March. This time around, it’s the T-Mobile HTC One M8’s turn to get a taste of the sweet Lollipop. This is the 4.20.531.4 software update which actually refers to the Android 5.0 Lollipop.

If you own an HTC One M8 with T-Mobile subscription, check your software version. From Applications go to Settings, scroll down and click on About, tap Software information and you’ll see the Software number. If you see 4.20.531.4, that means your phone is up to date. Those with numbers 3.32.531.2 need to be updated and should be receiving an OTA notification soon.

If you need to update, make sure that you have at least 6434MB of free space, 50% battery, and data connection. Starting February 10, HTC One M8 phones will receive notification for an automatic Over-The-Air (OTA) update. Note that this is for T-Mobile HTC One M8 owners only.

Other HTC One M8 from other carriers like Rogers, Telus, the European version, and Google Play Edition have already receive the Android 5.0 Lollipop update. Let’s wait for other carriers to roll out their Lollipop update for the HTC One M8.

  1. If you liked the old HTC One, you’ll like the new HTC One, but the problem for HTC is that not many people bought the old HTC One. The One M8 will be enough to keep the company trucking for another year, but it won’t change its market position.
