The Nexus Prime leaks are coming fast and furious on the lead-up to Samsung’s Mobile Unbox event on Tuesday. BGR has a source that lays out all of the juicy details on Google’s next developer phone, including that it will be exclusive to Verizon Wireless in the United States. The details line up with what we’ve seen rumored over the last few weeks, except that the source claims the official name for the phone is the “Galaxy Nexus”.

According to the anonymous source, the Nexus Prime has a 4.65-inch screen with a resolution of 1280 x 720, giving it a sky-high PPI value of 320. The panel will of course use Samsung’s Super AMOLED + technology, and feature the same concave glass surface as the Nexus S. Processing power comes from a 1.2Ghz dual-core TI chip, and the phone has a huge 32GB storage capacity with a full 1 GB or RAM. In Verizon’s case an LTE 4G radio will offer speedy downloads. All this powers the newest version of Android, Ice Cream Sandwich. Unfortunately, no price details have been leaked.

Other more mundane details include a 1750 mAh battery, NFC capability, a rear camera of “just” 5 megapixels and a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera. The Nexus Prime will get the now-standard 1080p video recording. The phone is being listed at just 9mm thick, presumably not including the bend seen in Samsung’s teaser video. These specifications are from an anonymous tipster and have not been confirmed – be sure to check Android Community on Tuesday, October 11th for the official unveiling at CTIA.

  1. Alright, this whole Verizon exclusivity thing is starting to make me mad. That is the totally wrong thing of Google to do. When a brand has been available on other carriers since the start (mainly T-Mobile), you don’t just screw all you existing customers and make it exclusive to a carrier that has never had it. Imagine if Apple had made the iPhone 4 exclusive to Verizon and abandoned everyone on AT&T. That would’ve been the end of them. I don’t really care if Google wants to make Verizon a partner, but they need to offer the Nexus Prime for all the carriers. The Nexus brand is not a consumer brand that can do exclusivity. It is a developer brand first, and most Android devs are rocking Nexus S’s on T-Mobile, including myself. And I imagine not many are going to be willing to go out and completely move carriers so they can just get access to the latest version of Android so they can develop for it.

Spec wise, the Nexus Prime is looking awesome. The Verizon exclusive thing just really boils my blood. And it’s not that I don’t want Verizon to have it. I want everyone to have a chance to experience pure Android. But this is not the way to do it.

      • Guys you all have forgotten, nexus S was with T mobile, but google/samsung released the phone for 530$ contract free. i think this should also come out in this fashion

      • If this phone is not LTE/GSM/CDMA other than getting ICS what is so impressive about it. I would rather have sg s 2 from T-Mobile Gsm version and I am a Verizon client now. This has to be a tri mode phone or it is a waste of time.

    • I feel the same way as you. Hell I’m still rocking a stock Nexus one on T-Mobile. Guess I will get it unlocked it will still save me money over Verizon pla and keep my unlimited plan.

  2. I thought there were different things previously that said it was coming to all carriers..? Is it just starting out exclusive on Verizon then moving to other carriers or what? I’ll be very disappointed if they bail out on other carriers.

  3. Agreed with others. I will have to admit feeling a little betrayed if it only goes to Verizon. It’s a very Apple thing to do, which is exactly the sort of thing that made me ditch them. Hopefully it’s just a false rumor.

  4. I hope at least it’s a time-limited exclusivity. The Nexus S was on t-mobile first but sprint got it about 5 months later. With no iPhone 4S, t-mobile really needs a stand-out phone this holiday. Samsung should just make the Nexus a hybrid gsm/cdma phone like the verizon/sprint 4S so there is the possibility of build-once-use-on-any-carrier.

  5. come on google, 5 megapixel camera, 1.2 dual core (not even exynos). And does verizon exclusive mean the device or the version.

  6. I am a little apprehensive of these ‘official specs’. The camera and processor don’t sound right. There is nothing official about this info.

  7. Verizon has exclusive for about 60-90 days, aka Holiday Period.  By January it’ll be everywhere else. This is why they didn’t get the GSII.

  8. If those specs are true, Apple is just not going to be able to get away
with their 3.5″ screens anymore. 4.65″ at a PPI similar to the retina
display on a device that’s supposed to be an all-in-one media player
    (games, pictures, movies, web browser)

  9. Oh dear its so good and informative Mobile site. thank for sharing this site.

  10. How come all reports up until lately have touted a 1.5 Ghz Dual-Core Processor, but lately everyone has been chatting about it only being a 1.2 Ghz processor…what gives?
Also, it used to be an 8 Megapixel rear camera and a 2 megapixel front-facing camera, now it’s being reported as a 5 megapixel rear camera and a 1.5 megapixel front-facing camera???
This product is deflating before my eyes.  By the end of the month I hope the phone doesn’t lose even more expectations…..just saying.
