Live in Berlin, Germany, here at IFA 2011 Samsung has just unveiled their next product line and the evolution of mobile devices. They are calling this the Samsung Galaxy Note. With the Note you can do more, and see more all on the go with one device. Bringing together a perfect blend of Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets with a touch of pen and paper all rolled into one we have the Samsung Galaxy Note. Anyone see a stylus?

Samsung has just announced this amazing new platform and we have all the dirt for you right here. The Samsung Galaxy Note will be the ultimate device. No longer will users carry a phone, tablet, camera, notepad, pen, paper and more — instead you’ll have the Galaxy Note. What Samsung has designed is a device with a 5.3″ Super AMOLED display with HD WXGA 1280×800 resolution, powered by a 1.4 Ghz dual-core processor, 1GB RAM and more. All this running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Details are still trickling in on this awesome device so we are still gathering our thoughts but I do know one thing, I want one ASAP. The Galaxy Note will feature many of the same specs we have grown to love from the Samsung Galaxy S II. The Galaxy Note will also have an 8 MP camera with LED flash, a 2 MP front camera for video chat. Being ultra-portable even though we have a large display it will only be 9.65mm (0.37″) thin and weigh 178 grams while boosting the battery to a whopping 2500 mAh. At first it appears to be a Galaxy S II but you quickly realize it’s something much more.

With Samsung’s own unique S-Pen technology note taking and input for drawing or anything else you’d ever need will be as simple as can be. Included with the device will be a stylus that neatly is concealed in the device as seen in the photos. On the side is a small button that, when you hold it down and tap, activates some of the pen-specific features. As soon as we get more details and hear all about this new mobile device we will be sure to update you all, oh and expect some hands-on coming very shortly.

The Samsung Galaxy Note will come in both LTE and HSPA+ flavors and will see a global release but no other details have been released at this time. Feel free to follow along and watch the official Samsung Unpacked IFA Keynote right here at our sister site at live.slashgear.com

Update: Now that IFA has came and went check out all of our hands-on coverage at IFA 2011, and our IFA Round-up post.

  1. My God!
We knew something very special was going to happen here … But this is just revolutionary!
The game has now changed for good … Say hello to the future … It’s here NOW!
Thank you Samsung .. thank you!

  2. at that resolution the pentile super amoled wont look as good & better than RGB screens, samsungs RGBW screen will have a res of -2560×1600- on a 10 inch sized screen, the screen is so freakin sharp & the colors & brightness destroy super amoled away. they have a photo taken of the screen displaying fruits to show off the colors & if you look at the apple it looks as if its half way out of the screen. its just an illusion because the screens ppi count is so high & the color reproduction is so accurate it just looks real like looking in a window. its the same screen in the motorola photon & bionic *not the older generation ones in the droid x2 & droid 3* this is the latest RGBW technology from samsun & it saves power on white pixels instead of black like super amoled & up.

    • Well actually that’s the same difference in adding the Plus to Super HD Amoled Plus!  Only the extra white subpixels are self lighting, just like the other pixels in this screen. So the screen is actually much brighter on SAMOLED PLUS screen. On the RGBW screen, it still has a backlight, but some added sub pixels are used, that just open and close according to screen demands (instead of being self lighting green blue or red). So the White sub pixels don’t use energy to self light in Samsung’s new Super HD AMOLED Plus just like in RGBW screen!

      • Hey, your stupid Captivate was not updated because of AT&T. Other Galaxy S owners had Gingerbread months ago..

Lesson? buy an unlocked phone, as US networks suck at updating

      • yeah, stupid user. doesn’t know how/who to blame. US netwoks suck, they dont care for their customers, always bring old technology to US, like NFC. they already in use in Korea and Japan for more than 5 years. Again, Stupid users…! don’t complain in the hardware, is in the Networks(late updating, overload systems, etc)

      • Since Apple are both the device and OS manufacturer: Yes. The same would hold for a Bada-running Samsung phone.

When Google is the core OS maker and the Android phone manufacturers add their own modifications to differentiate them from the others, this introduces a delay that is not present in the iOS single-vendor world.

  5. I had this vision several months ago and had even posted it on several blog sites and smartphone sites about this concept.I am glad that SAMSUNG finally came out with such a wonderful TabletPhone. This device eliminates the need for carrying a laptop, video camera, a camera and a seperatre smartphone. This all in Tphone will be a sure HIT in the market.

  6. Looks like this could be a happy medium between the mobile and the tablet. . . lets call it a MOTAB!!.
Also a stylus is a handy feature along side the capture and drawing features, a lot of industries will embrace this,
especially for those chubby fingered people out there. (you try drawing professionally with your finger!!) http://www.ur-mobile.com/mobiles/brands/samsung.html?page=shop.product_details&flypage=youmania_flypage.tpl&product_id=90&category_id=3

  7. Hopefully it will not be more than $500 or hopefully even less but who knows. Pricing seems to be whats really hurting tablets right now when they are so close to the same price as an Ipad.

  8. This is a great phone, and im loving Android more and more, the latest sets of Android handsets are very impressive. Have you guys seen the new Infiniti T70 Tablet that runs Android OS for under $100, its not bad and worth a go if you want to try a tablet without breaking your bank. Infiniti T70 Review

  9. Holy CRAP this phone looks amazing. I’m really hoping it comes out for Sprint, because there is no doubt that I will get this phone.

  10. It almost seems comically large, but I will reserve judgement until I can see one in person (perhaps the person in the pics has small hands?).

    • That’s the same question i had. I’m stuck with only verizon service where i live and it would be great if it worked on their network.
