Samsung is definitely skipping a number. The South Korean tech giant already confirmed that the next Note phablet will be a ‘7’ and not a Note 6. That’s intentional because obviously, they want to align the series with the Galaxy S line. The next special event will be held on August 2 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City according to the company.

So no more Note 6 but the Note 7 will be the new star together with the Note 7 edge (or will it be an S7 edge+ ?). Right now, we’re not sure about the difference between the two but we’re certain they are premium devices that will command such high prices. This duo together with the S7 and S7 edge are expected to go head-to-head with the next-gen iPhone 7.

We’ve heard numerous details about the new Galaxy Note. In fact, we’ve already filled a number of pages with rumors, leaks, and speculations. The latest prototype was shared by OnLeaks and event invites were revealed earlier by Samsung.

SAMSUNG Note 7 Galaxy Unpacked 2016

The Galaxy Note 7 is expected to have a large, hi-res display with a 12MP cam plus dual-pixel sensor technology. We can also expect some f/1.7 lens, optical image stabilization, phase detection autofocus, 4K recording, and a 5MP front-facing camera. There’s still the S Pen stylus functionality, of course, since it’s a Note.

We can’t wait to try the iris scanner and see if the phone will be able to support the super fast UFS memory card. We’re not sure if the Note 7 will indeed support the new card but we were given hope after learning that Samsung has been working on a UFS-microSD card compatible socket design.

Samsung will be launching the Note 7 this coming August 2. Phones will start shipping on August 15 but will still depend on the country and mobile carrier. The devices will be available in Blue, White, Black, Silver, and probably a special Pink edition based on another leaked image from a Weibo user.
