The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is expected to sell millions. The company was once rumored it would be producing five million units as first batch. We’re hopeful that Samsung will hit its target as pre-orders in South Korea showed better than the Galaxy S7. Over 200,000 Note 7 units were placed on pre-order the past couple of days. That’s in South Korea alone so imagine when pre-orders will begin in other key markets. The number is biggest ever for a Galaxy phone in that short span of time.

It seems that the new Note 7 has captured the attention of many people. It’s the first non-flat Note 7 and contrary to what we’ve been saying, it seems that a lot of consumers actually like it. The phone can be considered a worthy upgrade and a great phone for a first time Galaxy Note buyer. The only downside we can think of right now is the expensive price.

The Galaxy Note 7 boasts of a curved edge screen, the new iris scanner, and a waterproof S-Pen. The latter is an upgraded stylus that offers “Magnify” and “Translate” features. The mighty pen even works under water, thanks to its IP68 water resistance certification.

Samsung has published several commercials already as part of the brands’ global marketing campaign. We’re curious how many phones will be sold after watching Hollywood actor Cristoph Waltz’s video or that unboxing by a Verizon doodle, or even that Unboxing Video done down the waterslide by T-Mobile.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 South Korea 2

We have high expectations on the Galaxy Note 7 especially since the Gear Fit 2 or a Gear VR is offered FREE with the phablet as standard by most mobile carriers. In its native South Korea, Samsung is generous with the Gear Fit 2 (198,000 won/US$177 value) offered as a free gift plus the 100,000 won (US$98) gift card if you buy a Note 7. The gift card can be used at Samsung Pay Mall.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is also expected to attract more premium mobile consumers. Those who have previous Note experience will appreciate the upgrades while new users will be impressed.

  1. I am going to hang on tightly to my Galaxy Note 4 which for the last 2 years has been an incredible device.
The Note 5 in my opinion is not as good and I will not be rushing out to buy a Note 7.
The Note 4 with the marshmallow upgrade, with a very large capacity sd card and a removable battery is an awesome device. Oh and since Marshmallow I can now write directly onto a black screen.
The note 7 with a double edge is going to be difficult to encase in a protective wallet. Why not make a flat version?
Despite the enhanced gorilla glass it is still going to be prone to knocks.
In addition why on earth would anyone want an Iris scanner? A password is just as good. Also I believe there is no replaceable battery.
So I will hold on to my note 4 and most likely will buy a brand new back up Note 4 for the fraction of the price of a Note 7. But this is just my opinion.

    • An iris scanner, just like a fingerprint scanner, if designed properly, is a much easier method of unlocking a phone than a password is. For one thing.

    • I will be doing the same with my Note IV. Wish I was able to purchase a new IV backup and have a great phone for years to come.
