This is your friendly Android Community public service announcement. If you’re in any way interested in attending Google I/O in person, better get your fingers ready, both for typing and for crossing them. Google has updated its I/O 2015 page to include details of the registration process. Those who want to be physically present can try their luck and fill in the registration form within the period starting March 17 at 9:00 AM PDT all the way up to March 19 at 5:00 PM PDT.
There’s definitely plenty of time, but while waiting or pondering whether you want to go or not, at least prepare yourself by making sure you have a Google account because, surprise surprise, you will need one to register for Google I/O. That said, registration isn’t a sure deal that you’ll actually be able to attend. Slots will be raffled off just like last year, so it’s partly a game of chance. For those unlucky to be left out, Google is setting up local gatherings where key talks will be streamed live.
And what are we expecting in this year’s Google I/O? Well, lots of Android, of course, in its various incarnations, including in TVs and inside cars. We’re also expecting, or at lest hoping to hear more good news about Project Ara, and perhaps hoping for some light on the fate of Google Glass. MWC 2015, however, has left us also wondering if we’ll hear about Android Pay as well as the mysterious Google MVNO and VPN plans. All in all, it’s bound to be an exciting conference yet again.
