A new Chromecast is coming. Oh, we’re sure of that but what we don’t know is when exactly the search giant will introduce a new version of the digital media player that has revolutionized media streaming from a stick. Tech website 9to5Google recently reported that Google is preparing the 2nd-gen Chromecast based on some internal documents sighted.

Google will be having a special event before month-end. We’re expecting two new Nexus phones, one from Huawei and another one from LG. The Nexus duo might be accompanied by the new Chromecast–a better version complete with the Fast Play feature, faster WiFi, and feeds for the screen. Our friends over at 9to5Google managed to snag blurry photos of the device that looks to be very different from the previous dongle design. This alleged Chromecast is round with the USB connector part still sticking out.

The new Chromecast could be available in different colors: yellow, black, and read. That’s a breath of fresh air in this category where streaming devices usually come in boring black. This one appears to be small, not big and round as the Lenovo Cast. The latter still fits the palm of your hand but the next Chromecast is expected to be smaller.

There’s another blurry image of the box the Chromecast will come with. Still the same square-ish box but this one seems to have some rounded corners.

So this is the new Chromecast? We’re not quite sure about this but we’re looking forward to a new model with that Chromecast Audio or Fast Play. I guess we just have to wait and see for Google to make the big announcement. September 29 isn’t that far so let’s all be patient.
