Chinese OEM Meizu recently introduced the new M3S variant. Obviously, it’s an updated Meizu M3 which was only launched last April as a budget phone with octa-core processor and LTE connectivity. The current M3 is the lighter version of the higher-specced M3 Note released the same month but this time, a bit of an update to phone makes the newM3S.
Meizu didn’t change much the specs. There’s still the 5.0-inch display screen, 720p resolution, 2.5D glass, 380 nits of brightness, 1000:1 contrast ratio, MediaTek MT6750 octa-core processor, Mali-T860 GPU, 2GB/3GB RAM, 16GB/32GB onboard storage, and a microSD card slot for memory expansion. When it comes to imaging, the Meizu M3S has an improved camera system which include a 13MP rear camera with phase detection autofocus, dual-tone dual-LED flash, and f/2.2 aperture while the 5MP front-facing camera comes with f/2.0 aperture for high-quality selfie images.
What makes the Meizu M3S more different from the M3 is the fact that the phone now comes in a metallic body and there’s an added sensor for fingerprint recognition functionality. Battery is also slightly bigger at 3020mAh. As for connectivity, this one supports Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi, GPS, GLONASS, and 4G LTE.
The entry-level Meizu M3S only runs Android 5.1, topped by Flyme OS. Price won’t go over $140 (RMB 899) for the 32GB variant while the smaller 16GB model is only $109 (RMB 699). Available in gray, silver, gold, and rose gold.
