Verizon Wireless has confirmed the release details for the LG G2 smartphone. Verizon has said the handset would be available beginning on September 12th and that it will be selling for $199.99 on a two-year agreement. As a comparison, T-Mobile will have the LG G2 available beginning on September 18th.

The LG G2 is being billed as the latest device in the “G” series of premium handsets. It is also shown as one with an “innovative design” due to the rear-controls. These rear-controls brought plenty of speculation before the G2 was officially announced and they turned out to be for power and volume. The LG G2 also has a 5.2-inch Full HD IPS display and what LG refers to as a “near-zero” bezel.

The display has a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and sports a ppi of 423. Other goodies found on the G2 include the quad-core 2.26GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, a 3000 mAh battery, 2.1 megapixel front-facing camera and a 13 megapixel rear-facing camera.

The LG G2 will be running Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean which will be combined with some LG branded software. In the case of the G2, users can expect features to include Knock On, Answer Me and Slide Aside. Knock On means the user will be able to wake the handset with a simple tap of the display. Answer Me will automatically accept a call as the handset goes up to your ear and Slide Aside is a multi-tasking feature that allows you to have three full-screen apps “slides” running at the same time.

Another notable feature is the wireless charging. The LG G2 is wireless charging compatible, however the wireless charger will be a separate purchase. Those considering the purchase of an LG G2 may benefit from some of our earlier coverage which included some hands-on time as well as some benchmarks.

  1. i am in search of fairly reasonable priced unlock code. safeunlockcode .com’s service is valid if i use them to unlock my LG Optimus G Pro ?

  2. My contract is up and I really want to replace my old and tired Bionic with one of these but I’m worried about how much unremovable crapware Verizon will load onto these.

To get one or wait till the Nexus 5….
