Well now we’ve got quite the look at the HTC Sensation (NO LONGER to be known as the HTC Pyramid) as our man in England mister Chris Davies had his hands-on with it and a good look at its inside and outsides. Now what we want is, of course, the benchmarks! Which ones shall we chose? Why, Quadrant and SunSpider of course, we wanna know how fast it’s processing AND how fast it’s browsing – so lets have at it!

First we’ve got Quadrant, which as you know tests the CPU, the I/O, and the 3D graphics performance of the device it’s being run on. We use this test for essentially every device we come across that’s able to handle it. Take a peek at our portals for both Quadrant and SunSpider for tests on other devices.

NOTE: I must also warn you that Quadrant isn’t quite optimized yet for dual-core, so these results may be skewed because of that.

This second test is indeed SunSpider, which if you’ve been following our benchmarks for a while now you’ll know is a test of the core JavaScript language of the browser it’s being tested in. What it does is run a set of tests, or problems, that test real performance of the browser – in this case, the stock browser on the HTC Sensation, running whichever build they’ve got it going on at the moment – definitely, certainly not a final build by any stretch of the imagination.

Enjoy!

    • There are 2 elements. Firstly the higher pixel count means the handset will take a battering on the CPU tests. Secondly, sense with its RAM hungry habits. When I kill all tasks on desire hd and run quadrant, scores are approx 1950. But otherwise can be as low as 1700.

      Don’t know how sunspider works…

Lastly need a Linux only benchmark to compare non gpu related scores

    • I think it has to do with all the heavy 3D-based graphics that are introduced with the new Sense.
I’m guessing even a new launcher will greatly increase the benchmark! 😛

Then again, I’m no expert, so take my guess with a grain of salt.

  1. This score is lower than my DX,granted I’m on 2.3 but it’s still a stock bloated Blur rom, and this score is a LOT lower than what i get. Just ran one, non OC’d and came out at 1607, OC’d @ 1.2 netted 1990.

  2. Not related to the benchmark, but does anyone know if it has an LED notification? I read somewhere it did not.

  4. YYour test seems flawed. I get 1900 on a desire HD after a restart with background sync turned off. It’s a good phone but the test was slower before I did that…

  6. WoW – I read all the comments but I’m still going to put it out there.

Disappointing results for a nextgen phone.

Pretty sure Samsung will be glad to see these results.

At least it still has a sexy case…right?

  7. I wouldn’t trust quadrant scores since its been proven to be easliy modified to change scores. I remember I had around 3000 which is pretty crazy. All I can say is if real world speed is great that’s good enough for me since most of these benchmarking apps don’t even support certain firmwares and hardware.

  8. only a fool would take noitice of this, my desire gets some better results than these. hello dual core the benchmark apps are blatantly not making use of the dual core… ps put your galaxy slow away 1.2 DUAL-CORE

  9. These results may be slower because the HTC Sensation uses an asynchronous CPU, so only one core is available at the time of the benchmark…. update Quadrant to use both cores and you will see DOUBLE the result 😛

  10. o.o  1.1k????? that is very innaccurate….after heavy use, and multiple apps being installed i started at 2.5k, and went to 2.3k, but 1.1k? thats a bit off…maybe try 2 or 3 more times….

  11. Quadrant is the worse program ever for Benchmark. AnTUTU benchmark is ways better. Quadrant is soo outdated and off, it lists old devices only, no new ones, and it can;t even handle dual core
