Google Duo is described as a simple video calling app. The app for Android easily reached 5 million downloads in one week after launch and became No. 1 in Play Store’s Top Charts. The new app has yet to support audio-only calls but as a video calling app, it’s already making waves as proven by the number of downloads.

The tech giant has published five new ads on YouTube featuring the new Google Duo. Each one is a 35-second clip featuring different pairs aka Duos. The duos vary from those who like to show off, who just know what to say, who are there for each other, lost without each other, and duos who are meant to be.

The five pairs include a Toothbrush and a Toothpaste, Coffee and Milk, Salt and Pepper, a Pair of Socks, and Peanut Butter and Jelly. We’re certain you’re familiar with all of them and that you can still think of more possible pairs.

The videos are cute and funny but honestly, we don’t think watching the ads will ever entice you to download the new app. More video calling apps have been available and are already established. Most people would ask, “Why change your video calling app now?” Perhaps that should be Google’s next focus: tell us why and how it is different from those apps already out in the market.

  1. I just don’t get Allo and Duo.
Hangouts has video calling and IM together and it works anywhere, not just on mobile. So what’s the point?
