It’s never too early for rumors especially when we’re talking about premium flagship phones. We’ve heard of numerous rumors about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S7 and now we’ve got information about the next Xperia Z6 line. As usual, such unconfirmed details came from China where the market is rapidly expanding and will only continue to grow bigger especially now that a lot of OEMs are taking their position in the mobile industry.
While the Sony Xperia Z5 series featured three variants, the next Z6 series is believed to have five. This move is perhaps one of the Japanese tech giant’s strategies to advance its game within the mobile business. You see, 2016 will be a make or break year for Sony. Just like Samsung, next year will be tough for Sony. Launching five variants of the Z6 is not impossible but we’re curious to know how Sony will be preparing a new set of different mobile devices.
If the Sony Xperia Z5 has the main model, 4K premium, and a Compact version, the next Xperia Z6 is said to come in five versions:
• 4.0 -inch Xperia Z6 Mini (X45)
• 4.6-inch Xperia Z6 Compact (X55)
• 5.2-inch Xperia Z6 (X60)
• 5.8-inch Xperia Z6 Plus (X65),
• 6.4-inch Xperia Z6 Ultra (X50)
Okay, so there’s a Mini, Compact, Plus, Ultra, and a plain version. It seems that Sony is simply making phones in different sizes but the last two variants–the Z6 Plus and Z6 Ultra–are believed to feature a special 3D Touch technology. It’s something similar to what Apple introduced–the 3D Touch technology . If the two bigger variants will have 3D touch, then we can expect to know the difference between levels of touch or levels of pressure.
At next month’s CES event in Las Vegas, expect Sony to make an important announcement. We’re not hoping all five Xperia Z6 variants will be introduced but maybe more hints will be provided and perhaps of this 3D touch technology.
