The Google Assistant is on a roll. The past few days, we’ve been hearing good news about it. The service is getting a bunch of new features and updates including six new voices, the ability to make appointments for you, Google Duplex, and custom routines among others. We learned Google Assistant-powered smart devices hit 5,000 the last four months so this means your Google Home, Home Mini, or Google Home Max will be able to connect with thousands more smart devices.

As the louder and bigger Home smart speaker launched last year, the Google Home Max rolled out in December in online and retail stores. We haven’t heard much about it but the smart speaker was once reported to be experiencing latency issues with line-in connection.

The Google Home Max offers an impressive smart speaker experience although audio quality can’t be compared to other premium speakers. The audio needs a boost and good thing Google is finally addressing the issue. Once the update is ready, you can use the Google Home Max as a reliable soundbar.

A performance update will be released by Google later this month and it will reduce line-in delay or latency from 550 to 39 milliseconds. The device costs $400 so yes, it better be really good this time.
