Months after we complained about the 8GB version of the Xperia M4 Aqua being too small and not enough, Sony has finally responded by releasing a software update for the said model. This particular update will roll out over-the-air (OTA) to delete some apps that came as standard out of the box. Sony admitted the problem and now the company wants to address the issue once and for all.
Removing some of the apps that came with the phone as default will obviously free up a lot of storage. Instead of just 1.25GB space being left after the Android 5.0 Lollipop and the apps are installed, more will be freed up. This software update is both for the standard Xperia M4 Aqua and the dual-SIM variant. If you own an 8GB Sony Xperia M4 Aqua or the M4 Aqua Dual, don’t except to finds these apps pre-installed on the phone: Books, CloudPrint, FaceLock, GoogleTTS, Google Keep, Google Newsstand, Google News & Weather, Google Play Games, PlusOne, and TalkBack.
As with any other software updates, some issues and bugs have been fixed to ensure the smartphone will run smooth and fast all day long. You should be receiving a notification in the coming days. You can also check manually if update is ready for download if you really can’t wait for the OTA by going to Settings> About phone> Software updates> System updates.
