If you’re not familiar with YU, it’s a brand under Micromax. And who is Micromax again you ask? It’s the company that Cyanogen partnered with instead of OnePlus which resulted to a number of issues and temporary injunctions. Amidst all these, Micromax still was able to unveil a YUreka Cynagon smartphone in India last December. A few months after, we heard a follow up phone dubbed the “Project Caesar” would be revealed.
True enough, a few months later, we’re seeing a new YUreka phone in the form of the Yu Yureka Plus, this new phone is different from the YUphoria phone exlusively revealed in India last May. This one runs Cyanogen OS 12 as expected and still features the same size as the first-gen Yureka (5.5 inches) but now with a Full HD 1080p display. Right now, this unit is exclusive from Amazon India. You can register now before it goes on sale this coming July 24.
Other specs include a 1.5GHz Snapdragon 615 processor, Adreno 405 GPU, 16GB built-in storage, 2GB RAM, microSD card slot for expansion, 13 megapixel rear camera with Sony IMX214 sensor, f/2.2 aperture, LED flash, 5MP front-facing camera, Bluetooth, WiFi, 4G/LTE, NFC, GPS, and a 2500 mAH battery.
Battery life is good enough to last 210 hours or almost 8 days on standby mode, eight hours of talk time, and seven hours of browsing time. The Cyanogen OS 12 is based on Android 5.0 Lollipop but it features a number of options for optimization, AudioFX, App themer, and Cyanogen Mail among others.
