Android Lollipop 5.1

We already mentioned earlier this month that Android 5.1 will soon catch up. Why, the version is being developed for Android One and Nexus devices and we’re certain the rest of Android Lollipop-running gadgets will get the software update too. Problem is, not all latest Android phones have received Android 5.0 yet. Google is still mum on the issue but HTC’s VP of Product Management Mo Versi recently hinted that the next MR (Maintenance Release) will be next month.

Mo’s tweet was a simple reply to a follower who asked when the next update to fix button lights for the HTC One (M7) GPE will be released. He said it will be tied to the next minor release by Google. He’s referring to the next Android Lollipop update since the model already got a taste of Lollipop recently despite being previously delayed.

It could be Android 5.1 and not Android 5.2 which was also spotted on a Nexus 5 this week. Some devices are rumored to be running Android 5.1 already but Google isn’t making an announcement yet. Maybe next month, the software update will be released officially. Some of the anticipated changes as seen on a leaked change log last year include adding a Silent mode, major improvement in system stability, better RAM management, sudden app closures fixed, and enhance battery management.

The Android 5.1 is also expected to fix issues with wireless connections and excessive consumption of network devices. Some Okay Google function, notifications, and sound problems, notification should be solved too. Remember that Android One in Indonesia has been confirmed to launch packing Android 5.1. Someone at Reddit even noted that one of the first changes on Android 5.1 will include Bluetooth and WiFi toggles getting a drop down menu. I guess we’ll see next month what Google has packed in Android 5.1.
